Description

The Course will cover:

1: Introduction to Islam and Quranic Studies. This module covers the basics of what makes up the religion, its history, and how it has developed over time. Students will learn about important figures in Islamic history and gain an understanding of key concepts such as Shahada (the Islamic declaration of faith).

2: Islamic Philosophy & Theology. Here students will be introduced to a range of philosophical ideas related to Islam, like Kalam (Islamic philosophy) and Fiqh (Islamic law). Additionally, this module examines religious texts written by influential Muslim scholars throughout the centuries.

 3: Social Issues & Ethics in Islam. In this module, students will gain an understanding of the ethical principles associated with Islamic teachings and how they may differ from social norms. This module also looks at the rights of different minority groups in Muslim societies, as well as societal challenges faced by women in Islam.

 4: Practice & Rituals in Islam. Here students will learn about common practices followed by Muslims around the world. Topics like pilgrimage, dietary laws, fasting during Ramadan, and prayer are all explored in detail. Additionally, this module looks at popular forms of worship and religious celebration within Islam.

By the end of the Islamic studies course, you’ll have a foundational understanding of Islamic studies that can fuel further exploration into different facets and strands of this religion.
